Tuan Ly

Ly Tuan was born in Germany and works as a dancer and movement director. He graduated in Physical Theatre (University of Surrey) in 2009. He worked with New International Encounter (NIE), Moonfool and director Kasia Zaremba-Byrne, with whom he toured trough Portugal, Poland, the Czech Republic and the UK. In 2013, Tuan decided to pursue an MA in Contemporary Dance and studied at London Contemporary Dance School. As a dancer, Tuan has performed in works by Gary Clarke, Darren Ellis, Rui Xu, Rosie Whitney-Fish, Sebastian Abarbanell and René Alejandro Huari Mateus, among others. He works as a guest dancer at Theater der Klänge in Düsseldorf and Theater Traverse in Luxembourg. As a director and choreographer, Tuan works on projects at Paines Plough, Oval House Theatre, Tanzfabrik Berlin, Kampnagel Hamburg and The Place London. He has taught and given workshops for The Point Eastleigh, Hoxton Hall, National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, St Mary’s University and the University of Surrey. Tuan has been dancing for Maresa Von Stockert’s Tilted Productions since September 2014.
“Unsere große Welt” is Tuan’s first production as director of movement at JES.
