International and Baden-Württemberg Theatre Festival
Every two years, JES organises the 8-day-long theatre festival BRIGHT VIEW. The artistic direction of the festival goes hand in hand with the artistic direction of the theatre.
BRIGHT VIEW was virtually the beginning of JES in Stuttgart — the bait thrown out to city society and politics to make theatre for young audiences palatable to them, with success!
Since then, the festival has established itself as a platform for powerful, innovative and stirring performances from Europe and all over the world and, in combination with the working meeting of the Baden-Württemberg theatres for young audiences, also as a place for exchange, further education and networking.
Above all, however, the JES team as host of the festival has become almost legendary and is responsible for the unique festival atmosphere, which is characterised by respect, curiosity and many opportunities and suggestions for informal exchange.

In 2024, 20 years after the founding of JES, the BRIGHT VIEW will take place under a new artistic direction for the first time. Grete Pagan and Frederic Lilje, together with the JES team, will face the following questions:
What is the role of BRIGHT VIEW in the theatre and festival landscape in Stuttgart/Germany/the world?
Who selects guest performances and according to which criteria?
What space can we offer young artists?
How do we cooperate with the young people of the city?
