Almost everyday Balthasar spend the afternoon with his grandmother ("Oma") Monika. He would stay at her home until his parents didn't like to work anymore and came to pick him up. This time however they are going on a business trip and he would spend the night at his grandmothers for the first time. Balthasar and his grandmother share a little secret: she is very forgetful and sometimes she has problems to find the right words - not only when they try to solve a crossword puzzle together.
This evening Balthasar notices that his "Oma" looses her memories faster and more often than usually. She suddenly also has trouble to make connections between different events in her head. What would happen if she someday forgets who she is? Who was "Oma" Monika? Together grandmother and grandson start a search for lost memories and biographyical tracks of Monikas life. The kitchen becomes a parcours of a long and eventful life.
