3 projects, 3 locations, many questions.

What does it mean to occupy a space, to inhabit it, to be part of it? This trilogy of projects with children and young people is about finding out how we can make a space our own in different ways. \u201cHow can I occupy the space?\u201d We want to go to places like theaters, cultural centers and public spaces: Do I belong here? Or does this space belong to me? What happens when we occupy this space? Who else is in this room and who is shaping it with me? These questions will accompany us all together and find a form in performances, scenes, movement and dance.

The project is aimed particularly at children and young people with a migration history and non-European origin.

Project 1: Cultural centre
November and December 2024 \u2013 For children aged 9+.<\/strong>

Project 2: Theatre<\/strong>

February 2025 \u2014 for young people aged 16\u201423.
This time we will occupy the largest room of the Junges Ensemble Stuttgart and perform a dance piece together on the theme of \u201cTaking space\u201d.
We are looking for people who are interested in dance, especially styles such as hip-hop, Afro-dance and contemporary dance. But interests such as theater and parkour are also welcome.
The project is directed at young people between the ages of 16 and 23 with a migration background and non-European origins.
We especially invite Young PoCs (People of Color), young people from the African, Caribbean and Latin American diaspora, the Middle East and Asia, and Queer people.
The project will be offered in English and German.

Project 3: OWN IT! – Taking the space
<\/strong>
This time we are occupying the front of the immigration office in Stuttgart. Together we will perform a play with the theme \u201cTaking the space\u201d.

How do you do that, take a space? – \u201cHow can I occupy the space?\u201d. These questions will accompany us again and again during rehearsals: Who does this space belong to? Do I belong here? What happens when we appropriate this space? We want to address these questions through theater and dance. 

The project is aimed at young people between the ages of 16 and 23 with a history of migration and non-European origin.

SPECTATORS CLUB

For one semester each, we take time to discover the Stuttgart theater world. We watch plays and performances for adults, children and everyone in between, we talk and discuss, compare and reenact. We try to empathize and find favorite plays.

OFFICE FOR APPROPRIATE REACTIONS
Ages 8\u201315<\/h2>
\n

Start: November 2024

The office is co-led by young employees between the ages of eight and fifteen and in the first phase examines real conflict situations. For this purpose, smaller and larger, appropriate and inappropriate reactions are collected and researched together as a team. Reactions are organized, processed, repeated and archived.

In the second phase of the project, the office becomes a meeting place and test office for an audience or customers. Customers are all those who are looking for compassion, are angry or no longer know what feels appropriate. Various possible reactions can be tried out and practiced: on the punching bag, perhaps during a joint meditation or a round of Uno…

The OFFICE FOR APPROPRIATE REACTIONS is looking for interested children and young people between the ages of eight and fifteen who are interested in a special performance theater project.

CLUB “POV \u2013 Point of View”

Or I spy something you cannot yet see. Because I\u2019ll show it!
Will you see it as I do? Ob du es dann genau so siehst, wie ich es sehe?
And can I see what you can see as well?
Let\u2019s see!

In this club we will be looking at different and similar points of view and stances on different topics and situations. Which ones will we be sharing with other people? And how do we deal with different point of views that we see entirely differently? Together we\u2019ll research and stage different point of views.  We\u2019ll show what we find out on stage.

Going to the toilet alone in the dark at night. Realising at school that you have forgotten your homework. The big dog next door who gets too close. And there is immediately this one feeling: fear. But what exactly is fear? When is it too much? And when does it have a bit of fun? How can we face fear with courage and be courageous together? And how can we bring courage and fear onto the stage with our bodies, with light or music?

We will be researching and experimenting on these questions in the Club starting in October.

There are places were people grow particularly old. They live healthy and happy lives in different ways. These places are called BLUE ZONES. Living in community is one of the secrets of people who grow to be over 100 years old. But what does living in community mean? How can community be created?

We will do research on this topic in our project. We will experiment how we can form a community ourselves and connect other people.
In this club we would also like to try out a lot with your voice with you. You don’t have to be good at singing!
