Four people welcome you to their workplace at the beginning of their shift. They let you participate in their tests and experiments, you become a witness to their efforts to measure, compare and describe feelings. Does wanderlust come from far away? Is disappointment greater than homesickness? How much is too much?

A dance, musical and performative approach to what concerns us all, what determines our personal but also social lives so much \u2014 and what nevertheless gets so little space. For all people from the age of 5. Colourful, wild and exciting: UNB\u00c4NDIG is a celebration of great feelings, the encouragement to befriend them, because: \u201cSometimes they come. Most of the time they leave. That\u2019s okay.\u201d

\"Unb\u00e4ndig\" takes place on stage in German sign language. The play is accessible for hearing and deaf children and families. (Deaf includes different identities and lived realities such as deaf, hard of hearing, Ci wearers and later-deaf).

\"Unb\u00e4ndig\" contains integrated interpreting into German sign language. \"Integrated interpreting\" means that the interpreter does not stand at the edge of the stage, but is visible to on stage with the other actors. She translates a large part of the spoken and sung text by other actors. The interpreter also plays a role in the play. She stands on stage in a way that the audience can easily follow the translation and the plot of the play. Individual words and sentences are signed by the other actors. The interpreter and the actors are all hearing.

They agreed on one thing from the beginning: they would definitely find something better than death. But what did the donkey, the dog, the cat and the rooster actually find after they chased the robbers out of their hut? Just a protective roof over their heads? Or a new home? Or community? How do you live together when you are so different and have different needs?

Because music almost always helps, the four \"city music animals\" take Donkey by their word and grab microphones and instruments. The stories are their own, but what kind of music is appropriate? And does it rather take a good choreography, a fresh band name or simply lots of practice to actually make a name for oneself?

The JES Ensemble tells the Brothers Grimm fairy tale from a special perspective, with lots of live music.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the audio description<\/strong> the stage set, the costumes and the visible course of the action are described for people with visual impairments. The descriptions are spoken live during the performance and can be heard by the audience via transmitters with headphones.

For people with visual impairments, we regularly offer screenings with tactile guidance and audio description <\/strong>an.

The tactile tour<\/strong> takes place in the stage area approximately one hour before the performance begins. Here you can feel parts of the stage set, props and costume pieces. The actors introduce themselves and describe themselves. In addition, particularly visual scenes of the production are described.

\"I only know my country by smell. It smells like my mother's food. My father says you remember the smell of your country everywhere, but you only recognise it when you're far away.\"

\"Warum das Kind in der Polenta kocht\" is the story of a young girl growing up between two worlds: the colourfully transfigured homeland of circus and caravan and the harsh reality of being a constant stranger on the road.

An actress and a young girl on stage at JES confront the story of Agalja Veteranyi. Together with director Ye\u015fim Schaub, they search for the multi-layered, <\/em>sometimes contradictory multilayered feeling of being a stranger via the opposing views of the characters, which are repeatedly interrupted by precise imagery, and deal with it impressively.

How is it possible to share the experience of homelessness despite different histories, ages and backgrounds? Especially in times of ongoing wars and refugee movements, Aglaja's search for a place she can finally settle intersects inseparably with the reality that surrounds us.

Actually, everything was as it always was. Balthasar spent almost every afternoon with his grandmother Monika, until his parents stopped immersing themselves in work and came to pick him up. But this time they were going to go away on a work trip, so this time Balthasar would spend the night with Grandma Monika ecause Balthasar is with his grandmother so often, he also knows her little secret: her forgetfulness and the trouble she has finding the right words, not only when doing crossword puzzles together.

On this evening, however, Balthasar notices that his grandmother's memories and connections suddenly disappear from her mind more and more often. What happens when she forgets herself at some point? Who, then, was Grandma Monika? Together, grandmother and grandson set off in search of her memories and biographical traces. The kitchen becomes the parcourse of a long and eventful life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five strangers meet in a laundrette. Where they are coming from or what they are looking for remains uncertain at first. The only vague promise hangs as a neon sign above the entrance that reads \"Wash your troubles away.\"

Alternating between waiting and running, with and against each other, above and straight through, this dance theatre piece by choreographer Beatrix Simk\u00f3 examines moments of being overwhelmed and the unity of the community. The ensemble uses the laundrette as a playground for encounters and negotiations. They climb on washing machines, step over benches and move through the space on rollerskates. They want to know why the world sometimes feels so heavy and whether there is a world behind the washing machine drum.

A performance with few words about being alone, staying together and enduring uncertainty - mixed with a touch of magic and a big secret.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

- There is bright and colourful light and dim light and darkness.

- There is a lot of electronic music with low sounds. Sometimes the music is loud and very fast.

- The actors climb over the stage set and hide behind it.

- The actors often make different movements at the same time.

- One actor enters and leaves the stage through the audience entrance.

- An actor skates onto the stage.

- The actors enter and leave the stage behind the set and through a washing machine drum

One minute everything was calm, the next it's there: chaos. It lurks in moments when your way of dealing with something and my way of dealing with it collide. And it\u2019s also where the unexpected happens, for which I am so unprepared.

In a dance piece for audience members aged 2 and over, Lola and Selina go in search of ways to find their way in turbulent situations. In the process, it is not always easy to understand oneself or the other person: Why do you cause such chaos in me? How can I make you understand what this is doing to me? And how can we get through such a turbulent moment together? The two try out how they can tame the chaos on stage, they make plans and thwart them, dive into wild playfulness and deep contemplation, they tumble, rumble and roar through all the colours of chaos.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

- Use of recorded music and live instruments (accordion and ukulele) as well as several metronomes that tick in different rhythms. Metal buckets that produce sounds.

- Large stage elements that are moved.

- Colorful clothes that fly through the air and suddenly appear.

- A fluttering curtain at the back of the stage.

- The dancers hang in the air, stand on an elevated position and swing around a pole.

- The dancers talk to the audience at the beginning and at the end.

Raising your voice, making it heard What happens when this basic right is suddenly lost? Two actors have founded a state to defy a monstrous danger and invite children to become its first citizens.

Together they dive into an adventure of intergalactic proportions, playfully testing social coexistence and determining who decides, and thus take on the small issue of saving the world.

Playfully and embedded in an exciting story, the children experience the encouraging feeling that they are a serious part of society.That it is worthwhile to raise one's own voice - and to fight for this fundamental right.

- At one point in the play, some audience members are asked to make loud noises with objects.

Science has worked wonders: genetic research, early diagnosis and strict hygiene laws prevent the outbreak of any disease. In the wake of medical progress, common sense has led to a political system that protects its citizens from physical suffering. The price for safety: control and complete surveillance.

Until recently, the young biologist Mia Holl was an unquestioning part of the system and defended it against her rebellious brother Moritz. But then he was convicted of murdering a woman after a DNA test and killed himself in prison. Mia is thrown off track, doubts her brother's guilt, blames herself, neglects sports and nutritional reports and is targeted by the judicial system. A smoked cigarette is judged as abuse of toxic substances and is seen as endangerment of general welfare. The discussions in court and in the media escalate and Mia becomes the figurehead for the resistance.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Do you dare do it? - Ang\u00e9lica, Lola, Maxi, Estelle, Stefan and Jule ask themselves. The six of them challenge themselves and each other on the JES stage: Maxi and Ang\u00e9lica test how far they can go. Estelle sings: \u201cMy life is too much of a risk, that's why I'll stay here like this forever\u201d - but is sure that there must be another way. Stefan tries to fly, Jule tries to let go and maybe Lola will talk about her scars.

All six of them face their challenges, desires and fears, try again and try differently and want to know: Where are boundaries, how can they be found, maintained, set or broken?

\u201cAus der Kurve fliegen\u201d encourages people to trust each other and celebrate life together despite, but also because of, its uncertainties. With German sign language on stage<\/strong>

\u201eAus der Kurve fliegen\u201c takes place on stage in German sign language. The play is accessible for hearing and deaf children and families. (Deaf includes different identities and lived realities such as deaf, hard of hearing, Ci wearers and later-deaf).

This performance contains integrated interpreting into German sign language. \"Integrated interpreting\" means that the interpreter does not stand at the edge of the stage but is visible to on stage with the other actors. She translates a large part of the spoken and sung text by other actors. The interpreter also plays a role in the play. She stands on stage in a way that the audience can easily follow the translation and the plot of the play. Individual words and sentences are signed by the other actors. The interpreter and the actors are all hearing.

1. Lemon ice cream, 2. water fights, 3. staying up later than usual and watching TV, 4. Die Farbe Gelb: the colour yellow... With everything that is beautiful about the world.

The protagonist of this solo piece, which can only be told together with the audience, begins making a list of all things nice in the world for his mother in the hope that this will end her depression and life will go on. In a way, it does. But not everything automatically becomes good. There is always a strange sadness lurking, there are crashes, embarrassing situations and injuries. The list has grown and grown over the years, approaching a million: 999,997. The alphabet, 999,9998. Inappropriate songs in emotional moments, 999,999. Completing a task....

A courageous, life-affirming and thought-provoking play about absent parents, faithful companions and big and small life decisions. The play deals with themes of depression as well as the suicide of the protagonist's mother.

- During the performance, the audience sits in the same room as the actor. The room is separated from a larger room by a curtain made of paper strips.

- The actor plays and speaks in front of, next to and behind the audience. At times, he sits close to the audience.

- The audience sits on benches without backrests during the performance. (You can ask for a chair with a backrest if you need one).

- There is music with a noticeable bass and a quiet, high, continuous tone.

- There is a loud leaf blower. There is wind from the leaf blower. The paper strips are whirled up at that moment.

- There is a movable spotlight that can briefly dazzle the audience.

- The audience and the actor can always see each other.

- The  actor makes direct eye contact with some members of the audience. The actor addresses the audience directly at times. Es wird laut im JES, bunt, gef\u00fchlvoll \u2013 und peinlich. Denn Scham ist das Thema des ersten Musicals der JES-Geschichte. Mit allem, was dazu geh\u00f6rt: gef\u00fchlvollen Songs, einer Pop-Band, einer gro\u00dfen Besetzung und Tanzchoreografien.

Auch wenn wenig dr\u00fcber gesprochen wird, ist Scham ein pr\u00e4gendes Thema im Alltag vieler (junger) Menschen. Wie beeinflusst das gesellschaftliche Konstrukt von Scham unsere Pers\u00f6nlichkeitsentwicklung? Welche Auswirkungen hat Scham auf den Umgang mit K\u00f6rper und Sexualit\u00e4t?

Um das herauszufinden, schicken wir vier junge Figuren in ein KI*-gesteuertes Museum. Ihre von der Schule hinterlegte Aufgabe ist, mit einem Kunstwerk in Dialog zu treten. Indem sie dies (mehr oder weniger ernsthaft) versuchen, begegnen sie nicht nur sehr unterschiedlichen Sichtweisen auf Lebensformen und Schamgrenzen. Sie werden vor allem mit sich selbst konfrontiert und dann auch noch mit den schamhaft verborgenen Geheimnissen ihrer Mitsch\u00fcler*innen. Schwierig genug, aber noch einigerma\u00dfen zu bew\u00e4ltigen, solange es im gesch\u00fctzten Rahmen ausgetestet und ausgelebt wird. Aber dann droht die Ver\u00f6ffentlichung der eigentlich privaten Erkenntnisse durch eine interaktive Video-Installation.

In Kooperation mit der Popakademie Mannheim, die aus ihren Studierenden eine Pop-Band zusammengestellt hat, und der PH Ludwigsburg, deren Studierende das Vermittlungsprogramm entwickeln.

For this performance, JES will be loud, colourful, emotional - and embarrassing. Because shame is the theme of the first musical in JES history. With everything that goes with it: emotional songs, a pop band, a large cast, dance choreography and a love story.

Even if it's not talked about much, shame is a defining issue in many people's everyday lives. To find out more about it, we send four young characters to an art museum. Their task, set by the school, is to enter into a dialogue with a work of art. By attempting this (more or less seriously), they not only encounter very different perspectives on ways of life and boundaries of shame. Above all, they are confronted with themselves and then also with the shamefully hidden secrets of their classmates.

Jojo has been sentenced by juvenile court. The punishment: painting walls in an old age home. Jojo ends up in Leo's room in a bad mood, who doesn't utter a word \u2013 until it turns out that Jojo isn't actually guilty. Leo begins to talk about himself and admits that he is only keeping quiet so that the nurses will leave him alone. And it turns out: he used to be a boxing legend! Jojo tells Leo about friends who are not really friends at all and about the major insecurities regarding his future. Expectations begin to crumble on both sides and conversations about being excluded, about trust and the courage to take responsibility for one another develop. A friendship develops that challenges Leo and Jojo to jump over their shadows.

I like standing here, this is my favourite place, the turtle thinks to itself and sniffs at a flower. But what happens when a new friend shows up, but has a bad feeling about the place and would rather stand somewhere else? Do you then leave the place you have come to love? Do you insist that the other person come to me, no matter the cost? Or do we meet in the middle, unfamiliar to both of us?
With just a few words, the Canadian-American animator, illustrator and writer Jon Klassen has created a whole little universe of feelings around friendship in his new picture book \"Out of the Blue\" \/ \"The Rock from the Sky\", full of fears and reservations, suspicions and wishes.

His picture book \"The Rock from the Sky\" is about searching for the right place, also in life, about friendship and destiny: No sooner has the armadillo lured the tortoise away from its favourite spot than a rock falls from the sky right where it was standing. There is not much talk about it, just as there is little dialogue at all, not even with the snake that joins them. But there are plenty of stories between the lines, full of longing, uncertainty and hope.

Patricija Katica Broni\u0107 has developed a playful realisation of the picture book for the stage as her first directorial work at JES.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

- The audience sits around the performance area. The main performance area is a long wooden footbridge that runs diagonally across the room. There are seat cushions, seating pads and a few wooden benches to sit on. You can choose where you want to sit.

- The audience can see and observe each other.

- The actors sit in the audience multiple times. They make eye contact with the audience. Sometimes they act behind the audience, using the entire room.

- In one scene, a single wooden flower suddenly appears from the bridge. In a later scene, more wooden flowers and plants are unfolded from the bridge.

- There are sound and music recordings, sometimes with a deep, loud bass. In one scene, an actress sings softly. Sometimes nature and animal sounds, such as wind and birdsong, can be heard.

- There are rapid changes of light, flickering and pulsating light as well as coloured light. A disco ball hangs from the ceiling, sometimes creating small spotlights in the room.

- At the end of the piece, it suddenly goes completely dark for a brief moment. This is how the play ends. The light goes back on and the audience is allowed to clap. The actors take a bow.

The following moments in the play can be frightening . These moments can be a little scary:

1) At one end of the bridge, a large, round stage piece hangs from the stage ceiling. It falls down unexpectedly in the first third of the play. The fall is accompanied by a change of light and sound. A loud, crashing noise is played. The actors are startled.

2) A programmed spotlight slowly descends from the ceiling, the light moves through the room and changes colour. The audience can be briefly dazzled. Tense music is played. An actress reacts with fear, screams and hides in the audience.

3) Two actors jump from the bridge into the audience at the same time. Whoever is sitting in that exact spot could be frightened. The action is signalled in advance by the actors' gestures. Speak to our evening staff if you do not want to sit in this spot.

4) At the end of the play, the programmed spotlight appears a second time. It is suddenly and unexpectedly covered by a green cloth that falls from the ceiling.

\u2018Maybe djinns are this: Trruths that are always there, that are always in the room, whether you like it or not, but that you don't put into words in the hope that they will leave you alone.\u2019 Four siblings travel from Germany to Turkey for their father's funeral. They do not travel together, but set out on their respective journeys alone. They have been fundamentally different in this family for a long time, perhaps they always have been. At the very least, they have all taken a different direction in their lives, with different attitudes, desires and fears. During the course of their journeys, their pasts, their childhood and youth emerge and the path to their identities becomes visible.

\u2018Djinns\u2019 is about what it is like to lose one's father and the connection to one's origins. A group of young people from Stuttgart will take to the stage at JES and invite us into a space of remembrance, mourning and empowerment with \u2018Djinns\u2019. Their own post-migrant realities will become part of the production. For the second time, we are working together with Ye\u015fim Nela Keim Schaub (director of \u2018Warum das Kind in der Polenta kocht\u2019).

Kim de l'Horizon's multi-award-winning debut novel is the starting point for this theatre piece. \u2018Blutbuch\u2019 is a collection of memories of things that seemed important to our ancestors, an honest struggle with a binary present and a tender dream of a place where everything could be different. This JES production invites you into a garden. The kind of garden we dream of: a place where we actually meet, where we can listen to each other honestly, argue relentlessly and rewrite stories.

The novel serves as a source of inspiration, a collection of texts and a centre for our own search about imprinting, anger, queerness and family.

Life is not fair. Some people are allowed to stay up late, others can already reach the shelf with the sweets. It's usually the majority who decide which game to play. If just a few group members misbehave, is nobody allowed to have ice cream? And of course: Who is allowed to play with which toy?

The list could go on and on, as could the list of attempts to make everyone equal. How do you get someone to be fair and give up something when so many others give up nothing?

To develop the play, author and director Milan Gather and the JES ensemble first go on a research trip to schools and daycare centres to find out: When do we perceive something as unfair? How do we deal with unequal conditions? And how willing are we ourselves to compromise and show solidarity?<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
