Ang\u00e9lica Topfstedt is a Brazilian dancer, performer and teacher. Her work focuses on contemporary dance with an emphasis on improvisation and body awareness and on traditional Brazilian dances. Since 2017 she has been living in Stuttgart and getting to know new cultures. She has been a dance teacher at JES since 2022 and participated as a dancer in the dance theatre piece \u2018Aus der Kurve fliegen\u2019. She is also a member of the artists’ association Produktionszentrum and is in contact with local and international artists. She has participated as a dancer in festivals such as Ethno Portugal (2018) and Ethno Germany (2019), as well as in the Social Festival of Tudanzas (Spain). She is currently part of the organising team of Ethno Germany. She began her dance training in 2009 at Escola T\u00e9cnica de Artes in S\u00e3o Paulo and graduated in dance from the University of Campinas in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five strangers meet in a laundrette. Where they are coming from or what they are looking for remains uncertain at first. The only vague promise hangs as a neon sign above the entrance that reads \"Wash your troubles away.\"

Alternating between waiting and running, with and against each other, above and straight through, this dance theatre piece by choreographer Beatrix Simk\u00f3 examines moments of being overwhelmed and the unity of the community. The ensemble uses the laundrette as a playground for encounters and negotiations. They climb on washing machines, step over benches and move through the space on rollerskates. They want to know why the world sometimes feels so heavy and whether there is a world behind the washing machine drum.

A performance with few words about being alone, staying together and enduring uncertainty - mixed with a touch of magic and a big secret.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The world is filled to the brim with people and animals, small comedies and great tragedies: from the grey of a concrete cube, a lively, colourful city gradually unfolds with gardens and a library, building sites and blue lights, real and fantastic everyday heroes, a goalkeeper who writes, an autograph hunter, a mayor and an astonished fairy. In keeping with the hustle and bustle, there is a confusing mix of different languages in the air, Portuguese and German, both spoken and signed.

Everything somehow happens at the same time, is interwoven, wants to be discovered, processed and spun further until, in interaction with the others, a completely unique hidden object world is created. And out of the interpersonal encounters and the coexistence of different attitudes and ways of life, confidence grows in the midst of the confusion.

In \"Unsere neue gro\u00dfe Welt\", a deaf* actor and two hearing actors are on stage. The deaf* actor speaks German sign language. The two hearing actors speak German and Portuguese. The hearing actors also sign individual words and parts of sentences. This makes it possible to understand what they are saying in context.

For this performance, JES will be loud, colourful, emotional - and embarrassing. Because shame is the theme of the first musical in JES history. With everything that goes with it: emotional songs, a pop band, a large cast, dance choreography and a love story.

Even if it's not talked about much, shame is a defining issue in many people's everyday lives. To find out more about it, we send four young characters to an art museum. Their task, set by the school, is to enter into a dialogue with a work of art. By attempting this (more or less seriously), they not only encounter very different perspectives on ways of life and boundaries of shame. Above all, they are confronted with themselves and then also with the shamefully hidden secrets of their classmates.

In cooperation with the Popakademie Mannheim, which has put together a pop band consisting its students, and the PH Ludwigsburg, whose students are in charge of developing this educational programme.

With audio description and tactile tours<\/strong>

With audio description, the stage set, costumes and the visible course of the action are made accessible to people with visual impairments via live description. The explanations and descriptions are spoken live during the performance. The commentaries are received via transmitters with headphones. The audio description will be in german.

The tactile tour takes place in the stage area approximately one hour before the performance begins. Here you can feel parts of the stage set, props and costume pieces. There is a tactile model in which the stage set is modelled. In addition, particularly visual scenes of the production are described.

Es wird laut im JES, bunt, gef\u00fchlvoll \u2013 und peinlich. Denn Scham ist das Thema des ersten Musicals der JES-Geschichte. Mit allem, was dazu geh\u00f6rt: gef\u00fchlvollen Songs, einer Pop-Band, einer gro\u00dfen Besetzung und Tanzchoreografien.

Auch wenn wenig dr\u00fcber gesprochen wird, ist Scham ein pr\u00e4gendes Thema im Alltag vieler (junger) Menschen. Wie beeinflusst das gesellschaftliche Konstrukt von Scham unsere Pers\u00f6nlichkeitsentwicklung? Welche Auswirkungen hat Scham auf den Umgang mit K\u00f6rper und Sexualit\u00e4t?

Um das herauszufinden, schicken wir vier junge Figuren in ein KI*-gesteuertes Museum. Ihre von der Schule hinterlegte Aufgabe ist, mit einem Kunstwerk in Dialog zu treten. Indem sie dies (mehr oder weniger ernsthaft) versuchen, begegnen sie nicht nur sehr unterschiedlichen Sichtweisen auf Lebensformen und Schamgrenzen. Sie werden vor allem mit sich selbst konfrontiert und dann auch noch mit den schamhaft verborgenen Geheimnissen ihrer Mitsch\u00fcler*innen. Schwierig genug, aber noch einigerma\u00dfen zu bew\u00e4ltigen, solange es im gesch\u00fctzten Rahmen ausgetestet und ausgelebt wird. Aber dann droht die Ver\u00f6ffentlichung der eigentlich privaten Erkenntnisse durch eine interaktive Video-Installation.

In Kooperation mit der Popakademie Mannheim, die aus ihren Studierenden eine Pop-Band zusammengestellt hat, und der PH Ludwigsburg, deren Studierende das Vermittlungsprogramm entwickeln.

F\u00fcr Menschen mit Sehbehinderung bieten wir bei \"SHAME - The Musical\" regelm\u00e4\u00dfig Vorstellungstermine mit Tastf\u00fchrung und Audiosdeskription <\/strong>an.

Etwa eine Stunde vor Vorstellungsbeginn findet die Tastf\u00fchrung<\/strong> im B\u00fchnenraum statt. Hier k\u00f6nnen Teile des B\u00fchnenbildes, Requisiten und Kost\u00fcmteile ertastet werden. Die Schauspieler*innen stellen sich vor und beschreiben sich. Au\u00dferdem werden besonders visuelle Szenen der Inszenierung beschrieben.

Bei der Audiodeskription<\/strong> werden u.a. das B\u00fchnenbild, die Kost\u00fcme und der sichtbare Handlungsverlauf f\u00fcr Menschen mit Sehbehinderung per Live-Beschreibung zug\u00e4nglich. Die Erl\u00e4uterungen und Beschreibungen werden w\u00e4hrend der Vorstellung live gesprochen. Die Kommentare werden \u00fcber Sender mit Kopfh\u00f6rern empfangen.

In der Fortbildung \u201eTanzen mit Kindern\u201c zeigen wir euch unsere Lieblings\u00fcbungen und -spiele, um Kindern die Freude am Tanzen zu vermitteln und sie bei ihrer k\u00fcnstlerischen und k\u00f6rperlichen Entwicklung zu unterst\u00fctzen. Egal, ob ihr auf der Suche nach Anregungen f\u00fcr eine kreative Bewegungspause seid, eine eigene Pr\u00e4sentation mit Kindern erarbeiten m\u00f6chtet oder einfach neugierig seid. Wir zeigen euch tanzp\u00e4dagogische Methoden und er\u00f6ffnen einen Raum f\u00fcr Selbsterfahrung, gemeinsames Entwickeln und inhaltlichen Austausch.

Traust du dich das? \u2013 fragen sich Ang\u00e9lica, Lola, Maxi, Estelle, Stefan und Jule. Die sechs fordern sich auf der JES-B\u00fchne selbst und gegenseitig heraus: Maxi und Ang\u00e9lica testen, wie weit sie gehen k\u00f6nnen. Estelle singt: \u201eMein Leben ist ein zu gro\u00dfes Risiko, deswegen bleibe ich hier f\u00fcr immer so\u201c \u2013 ist sich aber sicher, dass das doch auch irgendwie anders gehen muss. Stefan versucht zu fliegen, Jule sich fallen zu lassen und Lola erz\u00e4hlt vielleicht von ihren Narben.
Alle sechs stellen sich ihren Herausforderungen, W\u00fcnschen und \u00c4ngsten, versuchen nochmal und nochmal anders und wollen wissen: Wo sind Grenzen, wie k\u00f6nnen sie gefunden, gewahrt, gesetzt oder gesprengt werden?

\u201eAus der Kurve fliegen\u201c macht Mut, sich zu vertrauen und gemeinsam das Leben trotz, aber auch wegen seiner Unsicherheiten zu feiern. Mit wummernden B\u00e4ssen, Elementen aus Breaking und zeitgen\u00f6ssischem Tanz l\u00e4dt \u201eAus der Kurve fliegen\u201c zum Eintauchen ein, zum \u00c4ngste \u00fcberwinden und Sehns\u00fcchte ausgraben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mit Deutscher Geb\u00e4rdensprache auf der B\u00fchne<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Vorstellung von \u201eAus der Kurve fliegen\u201c findet mit Deutscher Geb\u00e4rdensprache auf der B\u00fchne statt. Das St\u00fcck ist zug\u00e4nglich f\u00fcr h\u00f6rende und Taube Kinder und Familien. (Taub schlie\u00dft verschiedene Identit\u00e4ten und Lebensrealit\u00e4ten wie geh\u00f6rlos, schwerh\u00f6rig, CI-tragend sowie sp\u00e4tertaubt ein.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In diesem St\u00fcck gibt es eine integrierte Verdolmetschung in Deutsche Geb\u00e4rdensprache. \u201eIntegrierte Verdolmetschung\u201c bedeutet, dass die Dolmetscherin nicht am B\u00fchnenrand steht, sondern mit den anderen Spielerinnen auf der B\u00fchne. Sie \u00fcbersetzt einen Gro\u00dfteil gesprochenen und gesungenen Textes der anderen Spielerinnen. Sie au\u00dferdem selbst eine Rolle im St\u00fcck. Sie steht dabei immer so auf der B\u00fchne, dass die Zuschauenden der \u00dcbersetzung und der Handlung im St\u00fcck gut folgen k\u00f6nnen. Einzelne W\u00f6rter und S\u00e4tze werden au\u00dferdem von den anderen Spielerinnen selbst geb\u00e4rdet. Die Spielerinnen und die Dolmetscherin sind alle h\u00f6rend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jojo has been sentenced by juvenile court. The punishment: painting walls in an old age home. Jojo ends up in Leo's room in a bad mood, who doesn't utter a word \u2013 until it turns out that Jojo isn't actually guilty. Leo begins to talk about himself and admits that he is only keeping quiet so that the nurses will leave him alone. And it turns out: he used to be a boxing legend! Jojo tells Leo about friends who are not really friends at all and about the major insecurities regarding his future. Expectations begin to crumble on both sides and conversations about being excluded, about trust and the courage to take responsibility for one another develop. A friendship develops that challenges Leo and Jojo to jump over their shadows.

- There is bright and colourful light, rapid light changes, weak light and complete darkness. There is a moment when several spotlights with red light change rapidly. This creates a flickering effect.

- Loud music is played. At one point, sombre electronic music is played.

- There is an oversized rocking chair on the stage on which the actors sit. Sometimes they rock back and forth or jump down.

- The actors show big emotions such as despair, anger and joy.

- At one point, an actor falls from a small stepladder onto the floor.

- At one point, an actor takes a sip of tea. The person spits the tea straight back out in a fountain.

- At one point, an actor suddenly hits a picture on a pillar. The middle of the picture falls down and lands on the floor with a loud crash.

- From the second half of the play onwards, an actor has a painted black eye.

- In one scene, a knife falls out of an actor's pocket. Later, the person holds it in their hand and looks at it for a long time.

Life is not fair. Some people are allowed to stay up late, others can already reach the shelf with the sweets. It's usually the majority who decide which game to play. If just a few group members misbehave, is nobody allowed to have ice cream? And of course: Who is allowed to play with which toy?

The list could go on and on, as could the list of attempts to make everyone equal. How do you get someone to be fair and give up something when so many others give up nothing?

To develop the play, author and director Milan Gather and the JES ensemble first go on a research trip to schools and daycare centres to find out: When do we perceive something as unfair? How do we deal with unequal conditions? And how willing are we ourselves to compromise and show solidarity?<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Loneliness is a widespread feeling, even if hardly anyone likes to talk about it. Experts have found out that one in three people in industrialised countries is affected by loneliness. Neither age, money, gender nor ethnicity can protect us from loneliness. The condition is even supposedly contagious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This season, JES is working with Tabea Martin for the first time. Martin is an established choreographer who has created groundbreaking works for both evening performances and dance for young audiences. She explores big themes in a courageous, unconventional and extremely accessible way, like in the new dance theatre piece at JES: loneliness. In this dance theatre piece, three performers dare to confront this topic, not to be afraid to address it and free it from shame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A sparse use of spoken language encounters strong and expressive imagery. This makes the piece highly accessible even for audiences unfamiliar with dance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A crack runs through the stage. Did it just suddenly appear? Or has it always been there? Is it getting bigger? How deep is it, and can we overcome it? One thing is for certain: it\u2019s here now, and it challenges us to deal with the new circumstances. While some mourn the time before the crack emerged, others are already eagerly embracing the opportunities it offers. And what if other things in the space change while we are still getting used to what\u2019s new?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director Josie Dale-Jones is developing this play together with the ensemble. With lots of movement, they will jointly explore the themes of fear and change. For this production, the JES ensemble is joined on and above the stage by two aerial acrobats.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
