+++BRIGHT VIEW 2021+++

The 2020 festival, cancelled with a heavy heart, will be made up for in 2021. With great joy we will be presenting almost all of the performances invited to the original festival as well as a few newly invited. We are so excited to meet all the theatre people from Germany and the World and of course to welcome the Stuttgart audiences.

Save the date: 6th – 13th of June 2021!

Bright View

International and Regional Theatre Festival

Every two years JES hosts the festival Bright View: a showcase of ground-breaking international theatre for young audiences in Stuttgart as well as the platform for the regional theatres working in this field to share their work and develop their artistic and communicatory practise. Workshops and discussions for artists as well as interested citizens of Stuttgart are an essential part of the week of networking and development. The festival programme is completed with the award ceremony for the Youth Theatre Award (Jugendtheaterpreis Baden-Württemberg) and glittering celebrations.

Quest for identities

Looking at the diversity of forms and content represented at this edition, one subject stands out: many of the projects question the artist’s or young person’s identity. They investigate the reactions of humans to the accelerating processes that change the world and society we live in. How do climate change and social erosion, sprawling populism and experiences of flight, transforming gender images and diverging challenges influence the life of young people today?
