La Fracture
Yasmine Yahiatène (BE / DZA)
Documentary narrative theatre [in French with German and English surtitles]
Content
Yasmine Yahiatene’s La Fracture is a quiet solo piece that tells the story of her father, Ahmed and their relationship: both with each others’ and their background and culture, linking „father-daughter“ to „father-country“, and personal story to collective history. La Fracture uses football, historical film footage and personal and family archives to tell the story through spoken word, video projection and map drawing. It creates a quietly inviting environment.
La Fracture is personal and elegantly speaks to our questions of belonging – how we belong to our families, our nations and our journeys. Belonging is not simple and can provoke all our feelings of nostalgia, happiness, grief and loss.
