It’s only one short week, but one that Anni will never forget. She first notices Frede in a café. Shortly afterwards, she meets him again during her morning swim in the freezing cold lake, which she does to try and harden herself. They get to know each other, including their respective fears and sometimes sad secrets, and cautiously grow closer. When Anni realises that Fred is trans, she needs to find new words, because the old ones can be wrong or hurtful.

Lena Hach’s story about the happiness of first love is the basis for our new mobile production for middle school students. The JES premiere will take place in the lower foyer in spring, with preview performances in classrooms possible from mid-December.
