Anne Wittmiß

Anne Wittmiß works as a freelance director and theatre pedagogue.

As an assistant director at Junges Ensemble Stuttgart from 2015 to 2018, she accompanied productions by Hannah Biedermann, Nurkan Erpulat, Brigitte Dethier, Kristo Šagor and Grete Pagan, among others. During this time, she also created her first production NINA UND PAUL, which was shown at the Baden-Württembergische Theatertage in 2019. After her time as an assistant, she realised, among others, the multilingual and language-philosophical play DIE BESTE GESCHICHTE – EN IYI HIKÂYE at the Junges Ensemble Stuttgart, the free production MEER LÖFFEL! for children aged 6 months and older, as well as WUTSCHWEIGER at Theater Baden-Baden.

Because of her teaching degree and her traineeship in theatre contexts, Anne Wittmiß is always seeking contact with the audience, mediates between art and spectators and creates participatory approaches to theatre. She was employed as a theatre pedagogue at the Mecklenburg State Theatre from 2018 to 2020, where she most recently staged MÄDCHEN WIE DIE with the Theatre Youth Club and developed a live radio play project with pupils with visual impairments.
